The Swiss Commission for Technology and Innovation CTI approved the project entitled “Weather radar calibration by means of radar target simulators”. Starting from September 2017, CTI will hence financially support the high frequency electronics laboratory of the University of Applied Sciences Buchs (NTB) and the Federal Institute of Metrology METAS for the development of a high-precision dual-polarization radar target simulator. The two high-frequency expert institutes will collaborate closely with Palindrome Remote Sensing, who will be responsible for the prototype system, all the signal processing aspects as well as for the overall project supervision. Highly precise simulated radar targets generated with the newly developed RTS system can finally be used to calibrate radars with unprecedented accuracy.
